As-Seen-On-TV Adventure Comes to GO Fest

Run, crawl, and climb over obstacles for a boost of pride during a friendly competition at GO Fest this year.

A fitness adventure inspired by the popular American Ninja Warrior television series will be at the Anthem GO Outside Festival on Oct. 18-20 at Rivers Edge in Roanoke, VA.

Thanks to a partnership with Cox, participants can test their skills by attempting five obstacles including a rolling log, trapeze swing, cargo net, pipe shuffle to floating boards, salmon ladder, and unstable bridge with a finish on the classic warped wall. The Adventure Gym presented by Cox is open to participants age 5 and up with free competitions throughout the day Saturday and Sunday.

“GO Fest is such a treasure in our community and it just keeps getting better,” said Cox Market Vice President Jeff Merritt. “I always love a challenge, so I’m really looking forward to trying out the Adventure Gym myself. And the best part is it’s something I can enjoy with my whole family.”

The Adventure Gym, which is as much fun to watch as to participate in, is just one of the new things coming to Go Fest this year.

The festival has a new location on the south side of the Rivers Edge sports complex. But don’t worry, there will be just as many demos, activities, live music, and gear to enjoy.

Other new events for 2019 include:

  • Oyster Roast at the festival site on Saturday
  • Axe throwing competitions all weekend
  • Human foosball games all weekend

GO Fest will be packed with more activities than you can do in three days – camping, biking, paddling, races, fishing, climbing, and more. The festival is the perfect location for testing a new bike, pair of shoes, or even a SUP.

What began as a partnership between Roanoke Parks and Recreation and Roanoke Outside as a way to engage the outdoors community has evolved into one of the premier outdoor festivals in the country with more than 35,000 attendees in 2018.
