Explore Park ‘Adventure Plan’ Proposals Coming In

Roanoke County is accepting Requests for Proposals through mid-May for an “Adventure Plan” for Explore Park.

What does this mean for you?

The former living history attraction is one step closer to being reinvented into a 21st-century recreational park.

Roanoke County took over Explore Park in 2013 and began the development of a master plan that would turn Explore Park into a regional destination for outdoor recreation. The plan moves forward as proposals come in for elements such as aerial zip lines, adventure courses, bike skills park, and a variety of overnight accommodations (camping, yurts, even treehouses).

All of these elements are included as viable options in the Explore Park Master Plan.

So what’s next?

The county is accepting proposals through May 17. The proposals will be evaluated and if there is a good option, it will go to the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors. Got a business idea that would be a good fit for Explore Park? Learn more about the RFP.
