Whether you’re looking for someone to show you the line down a class IV rapid or a group of like-minded paddlers who want to protect our rivers, these clubs and organizations are the ones that unite Roanoke’s boating community. Groups are there for everyone from the first time kayaker to experienced stand-up paddler and are a great way to spend more time on the water.

  • Coastal Canoeists Expand Collapse

    Coastal Canoeists is a family-oriented club dedicated to the enjoyment and advancement of paddlesports and consists of canoeists, kayakers, and others from the southeastern U.S., but primarily from Virginia. Activities of the club include an active club volunteer-coordinated trip roster with trips for members, at all skill levels, happening nearly every weekend of the year.

  • Creek Freaks Expand Collapse

    The Creek Freaks is a paddling club sponsored by the Franklin County Parks and Recreation. From arranging trips and gear swaps to expanding the availability of river/lake access facilities, Creek Freaks are all about water. Continued growth of the blueway network and paddling sports activities will depend on volunteers and partners who will provide critical support to work on particular projects or events.

  • Float Fisherman of VA Expand Collapse

    The Roanoke Valley Chapter of the Float Fishermen of Virginia is a varied group of boaters that includes rafters, kayakers and canoeists. The group floats the rivers, streams and waterways of Virginia and works to preserve and protect these important natural resources.

  • Roanoke Area Paddlers Expand Collapse

    Roanoke Area Paddlers is a Facebook-based group for Roanoke area kayakers, canoeists, SUPers to communicate.

  • Roanoke Kayaking Social Club Expand Collapse

    We are a “Beginners Group” of 330+ paddlers of all skill levels.  We accept and invite any new paddler, experienced or not.  If anyone wishes to “join” they may, and NO ONE is turned away due to lack of knowledge or kayaking.  Cost to join is Zero.  Cost of most events are zero (except for ACA training events).  Club organizer owns multiple boats, and maintains a truck and kayak trailer to facilitate “river” kayak runs.  Flatwater, River, Sea Kayaking, Touring, White Water, and Camping Trips, our group does everything Kayak related.

  • Roanoke Rowers Expand Collapse

    Roanoke Rowers is a Facebook-based group for rowers and scullers in the area to communicate and organize efforts centered around creating a rowing club. The group was instrumental in getting a low-profile dock installed on Carvins Cove.

  • Trout Unlimited Expand Collapse

    The Roanoke Chapter of Trout Unlimited is a diverse group of more than 265 people with the common interest of pursuing the Trout Unlimited mission to “conserve, protect and restore North America’s trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds.”
